What is genetic counselling?

Genetic Counselling is the process of interpreting lifestyle information, family history and genetic data to provide a health management program.

We are all born with genetic variations in our DNA, and some of us are more susceptible to diseases like cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and even obesity.

Even though we are born with gene “abnormalities”, we can each do our part to steer clear of things like smoking. Things we know will trigger gene expression.

Genetic tests can be used to identify the clinically relevant genes we know are triggered by things we can change: Like the diet, lifestyle, and medication.

As genes run in the family, this information can also be eye-opening for your children and other family members. So there is a lot of value in screening.
